Trailer Talk - Textile Lesson

One of my great loves is fashion and textiles, so of course many thoughts are going into the decision of my Airstreams's pillows and sofa fabric. This past summer I purchased fabric for the pillows but with the discovery and rediscovery of two textiles I think there is another option.

The wonderful shades of purple fabric was spotted at my favorite antique store. I hate to call it "antique" because I find so many wonderful things that don't look old and antiquee. While talking to the owner my eyes caught a glimpse of beautiful purples and could not wait to ask what it was.

The fabric titled, "Trokia" was designed in the 1950's by Maija Isola for Printex in Finland, which was the precosser of Marimekko. I knew it was going home with me.

The brown, gold and grey fabric titled "Data" is by Peter Hall for the English department store Heals, designed in the 1960's or early 70's. I found this fabric at the Salvation Army about six years ago.

When I brought home "Trokia" I knew I had to find "Data". Putting them together with the swatch of graphite Ultrasuede, for the sofa cushions, brought joy and a smile thinking how beautiful!

Hopefully soon I can share the completed idea.
